Miracle Shop: Joy, Goodwill & Dignity for the Holidays & Giving Tress

Our community making a difference

By Erin Chamberlain December 4, 2020

The Miracle Shop, a project of the Rotary Club of Golden, is an annual holiday popup store in Golden, Colorado. The store allows financially struggling parents the ability to shop for new and quality toys at garage sale prices. Each shopper decides what he/she can afford to pay and is involved in the process, from advising on operations to working at the shop, all the while earning Miracle Bucks to use for their gifts. Last year, 475 local children & families had gifts. Each child received 3 gifts at an average price of $30 a gift.

The Miracle Shop has been hugely successful.  Adjusted pricing allows a population of underserved adults to purchase items they normally wouldn’t be able to afford, and more importantly, it creates dignity.  Popularity has grown so much over the years that collecting toys six weeks before the holidays is no longer enough, and last year, 50 families were turned away.

You can help in unique and impactful ways this holiday season:

  • Ask your child, a grandchild, niece, nephew or neighborhood child what they would most like for the holidays. Then buy two!
  • Shop the Miracle Shop Amazon Wish List
  • Give your time or money to The Shop
  • Spread the word and connect with The Miracle Shop on Instagram @themiracleshop.golden
