Wild Beginnings Nature School of Colorado offers nature classes for caregivers and children. A half-day Forest Preschool program for kids ages 3-5 and the Wild Beginnings Nature Babies (0-18mo) program is available for babies between 0-18 months old and for caregivers who want outdoor experiences to be part of their weekly routine.
Being outside year-round offers incredible benefits such a lowering stress and warding off and managing postpartum depression for adults. For babies, the outdoors supports their cognitive and motor development, can help improve sensory responses, and is very enjoyable.
Class consists of songs, sign language, sensory activities, and caregiver education. Nature Babies is an opportunity to create memories of the early years that will last a lifetime while joining a like-minded community.
We encourage families to get to know one another and meet outside of our once a week gathering.
Nature Explorers (18mo-5yrs) Wild Beginnings Nature Explorers program provides caregivers and children a space to nurture their relationship with nature through inquiry-driven and play based learning. Both children and adults come to class ready to get messy and play. Season tailored lessons are designed around themes such as animal play, weather, festivals, five senses and outdoor careers (such as wildlife biologist or gardener) and honor children’s strong need to jump, spin, balance, run, climb, splash, dig, transform, build, lift, create and imagine. We strive to have every class feel magical and be filled with wonder, we do this through storytelling, songs, and movement.
Come make magical potions, follow animal tracks, learn about how trees talk, create a mud kitchen, become a nature detective and more. A class consists of singing songs, a themed story, a lesson, an activity, and some unstructured free play. Each class ends with tea and a snack!
Forest Preschool (3-5 yrs old) Wild Beginnings Forest Preschool Program is a great way to offer your 3-5 year old child an opportunity to learn in the forest all year long. We believe nature is the best teacher and landscapes tell endless stories. Each day we offer unstructured play as an important time for children to socialize, express ideas, problem solve, explore and connect to nature. We take a wellness moment for children to reflect and observe their surroundings. Long periods of exploration and discovery are offered along with a daily activity. Forest Preschool is an 11 week series available Fall, Winter, and Spring.
